This working Ideation Lab is led by Visiting Arts as Creative Tracks ambassador for the United Kingdom.
Visiting Arts aims to promote international artistic exchange and strengthen access to opportunities for artists and creative businesses around the world, fostering understanding between cultures. They provide training and mentoring services in business development, networking events and platforms both online and offline, and facilitate knowledge exchange about international working. Drawing on a pool of international associates to deliver their programmes and a wide network of respected programmers, curators and producers cultivated over decades of support to the sector, Visiting Arts believes that high quality intelligence about placement of artistic products abroad exists in the expertise and experience of their vibrant and growing community.
Since 1977 Visiting Arts has worked with some of the world's most innovative contemporary artists in programmes that engage and inspire young people, communities and future professionals. We've worked in diverse regions and countries including China, Central and Eastern Europe pre-1990 and more recently in Iran and across the Middle East. Working with a range of partners including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, British Council, Gulbenkian Foundation and Ministries of Culture across the globe, Visiting Arts has also conducted research around international cultural leadership including trends in and barriers to international working and needs analyses. We provide information and advice, create opportunities for artists to make new connections and provide training for established and emerging cultural professionals.
Each year Visiting Arts hosts the renowned International Producers Breakfast in Edinburgh - staple for many attending the Edinburgh International Festival, creating the opportunity for 200 UK and international producers, programmers and creators with a passion for international and intercultural performance to come together, make new connections and sow seeds of collaboration, exchange and partnership for the coming year.
