The is one of the world's leading conservatoires and drama schools, offering musicians, actors, stage managers and theatre technicians an inspiring environment in which to develop as artists and professionals.
In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing professional landscape we have realised that teaching people how to be great actors, musicians and theatre technicians is not enough in facilitating the career development of successful working performers and creative practitioners. It is also necessary to provide them with the skills and resources to to manage their careers as a business. For this, the School is also a leader in pioneering entrepreneurial education for performing artists primarily through its flagship initiative Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs.
Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs is the Guildhall School's business incubator for creative start-ups, offering enterprise training, mentoring and funding support to aspiring entrepreneurs in the creative industries with a specialised focus in the performing arts. A 12-month programme through which we help performing artists jumpstart a business idea, or grow an existing enterprise, and create sustainable businesses. In the course of the year, aspiring entrepreneurs have access to:
Mentoring and Coaching: approx. 30 hours of tailored, one-to-one support provided by Scheme leaders and a range of external experts. Current mentors include professionals from PwC, Amati Global Investors, The Culture Capital Exchange, Artichoke, the BBC and the Barbican Centre.
Office Space: approx. 20 hours of access to central London office space (E1) per week, which equates to £15,600 in office costs across the duration of the Scheme.
Networks: access to citywide organisations including Deutsche Bank and the City of London Corporation, along with introductions to start up growth networks.
Training: seminars and workshops on core entrepreneurial management skills , including business planning, digital development, sales, marketing, leadership, finance and pitching.
Events: a wide variety of specialist events, including regular evening talks and a range of networking events featuring prominent figures from the entrepreneurial world and creative industries.
Funding Advice & Support: Including the opportunity to pitch for monetary support at a high profile pitch event towards the end of the 12 months.
